Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy
to perform at Discovery
Harbour August 9
Canadian “Masters
of the Fiddle” Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy will perform an outdoor
evening concert at Discovery Harbour on Saturday August 9, as part of the site’s
“Festival of Peace” Event and 200th Year Celebrations.
Natalie MacMaster
and Donnell Leahy have been captivating audiences all over North America with
their exceptional musical skills and obvious joy of playing together. The duo has received industry acclaim and
built an enthusiastic loyal following wherever they perform. MacMaster is also both a Grammy and Juno
award winner. Their music combines the
best of French, Celtic, American Bluegrass, and even Cajun styles. Riveting
original pieces, traditional Cape Breton tunes, step dancing, storytelling, and
unbounded energy will all translate the provide a remarkable musical evening
for the entire family. Opening for the
concert will be another Juno award winner the Devin Cuddy Band. Food and a beer tent will be provided by
Rotary Club of Penetanguishene. Bring a
lawnchair or blanket. The magical night will be topped off with a spectacular fireworks
show. Tickets for the evening concert
are just $20.00 per person and are now available for purchase at Discovery
Harbour and Sainte-Marie among the Hurons, or by calling 705-526-7838. Concert
goes rain or shine.
The “Festival of
Peace” event runs the weekend of August 9-10 and will feature live daily music
throughout the historic site, family activities, and much more. On August 8 at 1:30 p.m., an Ontario Heritage
Trust provincial plaque will also be unveiled and a Peace Garden
dedicated. FREE DAYTIME ADMISSION to the
historic site will be offered to past and present Canadian military personnel
August 8-10.
